Erbil 2-Day Highlights
A compact two-day introduction to Erbil: the citadel, bazaar, and minaret in the city on day one, then a half-day mountain escape to Shaqlawa on day two with an evening back in Erbil's Sami Abdulrahman Park. Ideal for visitors with limited time or a short stopover between flights.
Day 1
Citadel & Bazaar- Morning
- Start at the citadel: the esplanade walk and the Kurdish Textile Museum. Descend to the fountain square for a break.
- Afternoon
- Spend the afternoon in Qaysari Bazaar, then a short drive across town to see the Mudhafaria Minaret before dinner near the citadel.
Day 2
Shaqlawa Mountain Day Trip- Morning
- Leave Erbil by 9:00 am for Shaqlawa (about an hour). Walk the town, cooler mountain air, and honey stalls.
- Afternoon
- Lunch in Shaqlawa, then return to Erbil by mid-afternoon.
- Evening
- Wind down at Sami Abdulrahman Park — the lakes and lawns are pleasant in the early evening.
