Erbil 3-Day Province Explorer
A three-day circuit covering Erbil city and its two classic mountain day trips: the citadel and bazaar on day one, Shaqlawa on day two, and the historic Hamilton Road out to Rawanduz and Gali Ali Beg Waterfall on day three. Suits travellers who want more than the city highlights and have a car.
Day 1
Erbil City- Morning
- Citadel esplanade and Kurdish Textile Museum, then down into Qaysari Bazaar for lunch.
- Afternoon
- Short drive to the Mudhafaria Minaret, then across town to Sami Abdulrahman Park for the evening — lake walk, tea, dinner nearby.
Day 2
Shaqlawa- Morning
- Early departure for Shaqlawa (about an hour). Explore the hill-station town and its tree-lined streets.
- Afternoon
- Lunch in town, then an easy afternoon by the honey stalls and mountain viewpoints before returning to Erbil in the evening.
Day 3
Rawanduz & Gali Ali Beg — Hamilton Road- Morning
- Leave by 8:00 am for Rawanduz (about 1h45m). Walk the ridge-top town and take in the gorge views.
- Afternoon
- Lunch in Rawanduz, then continue along the Hamilton Road to Gali Ali Beg Waterfall — allow time to stop at viewpoints. Return to Erbil in the late afternoon.
