Duhok 4-Day Complete Experience
A four-day itinerary covering every major attraction in Duhok province: the city, the mountain road to Amadiya and Sulav, a full day at Akre with its ancient cliff-side quarter and Thursday bazaar (timed for Thursday), and the Lalish–Zakho corridor. Recommended for first-time visitors who want a thorough introduction.
Day 1
Duhok City- Morning
- Reservoir walk and boat hire in the morning. Lunch at the old bazaar.
- Afternoon
- Zawa Mountain drive and viewpoint. Nawroz Street for dinner.
Day 2
Amadiya & Sulav- Morning
- Early start for Amadiya. Explore the plateau: Ottoman gate, inscriptions, local market. Lunch on the plateau.
- Afternoon
- Descend to Sulav springs. Afternoon by the pools and riverside. Return to Duhok via Amadiya.
Day 3
Akre — Mountain Town & Bazaar- Morning
- Drive to Akre (1h30m). If visiting on Thursday, arrive by 9:00 am to catch the market in full swing. Explore the old quarter cliff-side houses before the midday heat.
- Afternoon
- Lunch at a local restaurant near the bazaar. Walk up to the castle ruins for views over the valley. Return to Duhok in the late afternoon.
Day 4
Lalish & Zakho- Morning
- Early departure for Lalish. Two hours at the temple complex. Drive to Zakho, arriving for lunch.
- Afternoon
- Lunch in Zakho. Walk to the Delal Bridge and the old quarter. Depart for Duhok by 4:00 pm to be back in time for dinner.
